To set the record straight, "The Protector" is NOT the sequel to Ong Bak. In Thailand, the original title was "Thom Yum Goong" (translates to "Shrimp Soup" xD). Even though Tony Jaa and that Thai comedian, Petchthai Wongkamlao, are in the film, the two movies are completely different from one another. And the original title refers to the restuarant in the movie that the Triads used as a front to conduct illegal activities.
That trailer up there is the real sequel to Ong Bak. I found it on Youtube while looking for some clips of the new "Americas Best Dance Crew" season (premiers this June 19th!) when I decided to look up Tony Jaa and see if Ong Bak 2 came out yet. I thought it atleast came out in Thailand already, but wasn't sure. Turns out the American version is expected to come out like two years from now --sucks for us. Fortunately, I might be able to get it a little sooner >;-P.
So if you're a fan of martial arts movies and Tony Jaa, don't miss this one! Should be a real hit!
Also, that trailer up there freezes at 2:45, so you might wanna fast forward there. Sorry!
