My Ideas to Generate Revenue: EO Style
Checked out Wikki's blog (finally updated after a full moon has passed xD), and it seems that EO is in deeper shit than before. Vult-r is losing more money now that his Adsense account is in danger, thanks to the morons on EO's forums. Even though I don't play EO (until v29), I still post about it on this blog. Gives me something to do.
Here are some of my ideas to help Vult-r make a little $:
1. Hire mods for the forums. There's alot of people out there willing to help out in any way they can. I would like to do it for free, so when EO picks up and thrives, I can say I had something to do with it. But I'm unknown to Vult-r, so I won't hold my breath. This could be like a trial period for those wanting to become a Light Guide or admin. Like see if the mods can do their job and moderate the forums in a professional manner, and if they do their job well, they get a bonus: EO gold, exp, expensive items, whatever. If they do their job well for a certain period of time, they get the chance to become a Light Guide, or admin. So there's a benefit to being a good mod without Vult-r having to pay cash, ya know?
2. Sign up to a better advertising company. Google is perfect for those who don't get a huge amount of traffic, but the revenue is too small for EO's website. There are alot of companies with higher payouts for each click. EO gets alot of traffic each day, so he should capitalize on this.
3. Offer special items or gold... for a fee. I suggested in one of Wikki's posts that if he simply added a "Donate" button on his site, he would make a little chump change. But here's a better idea: he should start selling EO gold, at a competitive price (since some in EO are already doing this). Instead of some sucker getting conned into buying 10mil in gold for $300, he could charge $5.00 a mil. For each sale, he'd make $5 bucks, but it's the volume of sales that will keep him financially healthy. Or he could have Arvid create a special item, whatever it may be (weapons, armor, maybe even a custom profile built right into your paperdoll!) and charge a fee for that. Price it low, and if the concept works, add more features and price it a littler higher. I know people would pay since some are already buying EO gold for a ridiculously high price, from some guy they don't even really know.
4. Keep the customers happy. You know how everyone talks shit about the admins until one of them logs in, then all of a sudden people start kissin ass? That's just human nature. But people want to see big things happening. Right now, admins loggin on and jailin people is huge news. That's pathetic. They're supposed to do that, so why is it a big deal? Because they rarely log in anymore, that's why. Not only do they need to do so, but they need to also do more than just stand around scratching their ass. Do events, solve EO crimes (jail the bastards!), make your appearance known, do something to brighten up the damn game, or more people will quit and never come back to EO, even when v29 comes out. Because by then, most would've forgotten about it.
5. Get the hell off those damn flash games! Does it make revenue? Yes, but not much. Flash games make money primarily by generating web traffic. So it's like the Adsense program, except he's putting too much effort into this and not getting too much out of it. Don't invest time and effort into flash games! Invest in your own game! You'll make alot more money in the long run!
6. Update the game more often. Vult-r shouldn't be trying to fix every problem with EO in one version. As you can see, v28 is the newest version and it's almost a year old. Instead, make smaller changes or additions and release it as a new version. Maybe he can call it v28a or v28.1 or something. That will keep the customers happy also (relates to #4). Then he can use his spare time to create this perfect version of EO when he has more resources.
7. Last but not least: get a job Vult-r! I don't know him that much, or what his personality is like, but Wikki says 99% (rough estimate) comes from the flash games, so I'm guessing he has no real job. Get one! Work at EB Games or Radioshack or something! Then if you can't leave the flash games, do that on your days off. Save the money you make in a bank account until you have enough to invest in EO, like marketing or a better video game program software, I dunno. I'm just saying that he should get a job so he can be more financially stable, and then he can quit when he has enough. Get on the hustle!
I had more ideas, but I kind of forgot most of them at the moment. But Vult-r should focus on EO as a business, not as a hobby. It's costin him money, and he's wasting his effort if he just updates the game whenever he feels like it. Because he hasn't felt like it in awhile.
